Window Security Bars

Window Security Bars are one of the most effective and economical ways to protect windows against break-ins, vandalism, and forced entry. Designed and manufactured to order, each grille is built to suit the application, location, and security risk level, ensuring the right balance of strength, appearance, and practicality.

The bars can be fitted externally for strong visual deterrence or internally for a higher level of protection where external fixings aren’t suitable.

Custom-Made for Every Application

We tailor each grille to your specific needs and recommend different bar diameters depending on the installation type:

12mm Round Bars – Ideal for internal domestic windows where a lighter, less “prison-like” appearance is preferred.
16mm Round Bars – Recommended for external use, providing robust resistance against attack while maintaining good visibility.
20mm Round Bars – Heavy-duty specification for commercial, industrial, or high-security environments.

Choose from a range of frame options to suit your fixing method, including Flat Bar, Box Section, and Angle Frame. Optional stand-off legs allow the bars to be mounted away from the wall, so windows can open behind the grille without obstruction.

Flexible Installation Options

The Window Security Bars can be:

Face-fixed or reveal-fixed to the brickwork or window surround.
Hinged to open like a gate, allowing easy maintenance, cleaning, or emergency escape.

Durable Finishes and Rust Protection

Each grille is powder coated in one of 13 Standard Colours, providing a clean and attractive finish. For bespoke projects, any BS or RAL colour can be specified to match your building or brand identity.

For external installations, we recommend the grilles are hot-dip galvanised before powder coating. This combination delivers superior corrosion resistance and ensures long-term durability, even in harsh outdoor conditions.

Key Features of Window Bars

Infill Options

Our Window Security Bars are constructed using high-grade solid steel round bars, precision-welded to either fixing brackets or a fully welded frame. For added rigidity, intermediate tie bars are included on grilles over 1200 mm high or in high-risk security environments.

Standard Duty – 12 mm Round Bar
Recommended for internal domestic or low-risk applications. Lighter in appearance yet strong enough to deter opportunistic intrusion.
Intermediate Duty – 16 mm Round Bar
The minimum thickness for external installations, offering robust protection against vandalism and forced entry.
Heavy Duty – 20 mm Round Bar
Designed for commercial, industrial, and high-security properties. Commonly specified by insurance companies as the required standard for secure premises.

Frame Types

Each grille is made to measure and supplied with a Box Section frame as standard, with alternative frame options available to suit your fixing method or aesthetic preference.

Box Section Frame
Our standard frame option. The bars are welded directly into a fully welded box profile, providing exceptional strength and a clean, professional finish.
Concealed fixings within the box section offer enhanced tamper resistance and a neater appearance.
Flat Bar Frame
Manufactured from flat steel bar, ideal for face fixing onto solid walls or the back of doors.
Angle Frame
Constructed from angle iron, this durable and economical option is often used in warehouses and utility areas where appearance is less critical.

Design & Access Options

To suit different site requirements, the Window Security Bars can be supplied in a variety of configurations:

Fixed Panels – Supplied as standard. For larger openings, panels may be split into sections and bolted together on-site.
Hinged Panels – Allows the grille to open like a security gate, providing convenient access for cleaning, maintenance, or fire escape routes.
Lift-Out Panels – A removable and lockable option for small openings, ideal where occasional access is required.
Standard RAL Colours - 9010 White, 9016 White, 1015 Cream, 6005 Green, 8014 Brown, 8019 Brown, 3020 Red, 5010 Blue, 5002 Blue, 7040 Grey, 7016 Grey, 1018 Yellow, 9005 Black
