Fire Shutters for Doorways - Flexible Structure

Our Fire Shutter Doors for Flexible Structures has been specifically tested and certified for use on serveries with non-rigid supporting constructions. This makes it the ideal solution for kitchens, school canteens, cafés, bars, receptions and commercial serveries where the surrounding structure is not a standard masonry or concrete wall.

This product has been independently tested as a doorway opening, ensuring full compliance and acceptance by Building Control and Fire Officers.

This product is available in 60-minute and 90-minute fire integrity ratings depending on site requirements.

  • Industrial motor up to approx. 7000 mm W × 7000 mm H clear opening

  • BS EN 15269‑10
  • EN 13501‑2 – Fire classification of construction products

Suitable wall types (flexible structures)

Designed for non‑rigid supporting constructions such as:

  •  Timber stud walls
  • Metal Stud Walls are not suitable

To match the tested constructions, the supporting wall needs to be:

  • Vertical C16 structural timbers: 3 × 45 mm wide × 100 mm deep, tied into structure top and bottom
  • Horizontal C16 structural timbers: 2 × 3 × 45 mm wide × 100 mm deep
  • Fire‑rated boarding to 60 or 120 minutes (Same rating as the Shutter)
  • Capacity to support approx. 25 kg/m² shutter weight

Landing surfaces

The shutter must close onto a compliant landing surface to maintain fire integrity. Typical options include:

  • Masonry or concrete floor
  • Class A1 non‑combustible substrate (EN 13501)
     

Controls & Safety Features

Every Servery Fire Shutter includes:

  • Fire Control Panel – standard or staged descent
  • Audio-Visual Warning – mandatory for serveries
  • Battery Backup Unit – ensures automatic closure under power loss
  • Integration with fire alarm or independent detectors
  • Emergency escape options where required
